“It is unconscionable and illegal for any woman to be trapped, whether it be behind a dining room table or in a relationship filled with fear and violence,” Deputy District Attorney James Demertzis said in a statement.
McDonald allegedly assaulted his then-fiancee as she was holding their two-month old baby, and has also been charged with misdemeanor domestic violence, child endangerment and with violating a court order that he stay away from the woman.
McDonald is looking at three years in prison if found guilty.
