Certain quarterbacks have rubbed their teammates the wrong way through the years. Geno Smith seems to be one, and Jay Cutler has always made teammates boil.
Former Bears linebacker Lance Briggs admitted during an appearance on NFL Network that he has thought about punching Cutler, according to the Chicago Tribune.
Lance Briggs admitted during an appearance on NFL Network that he has thought about punching Cutler. During a discussion about Jets quarterback Geno Smith, whose jaw was broken after now former teammate IK Enemkpali punched him Tuesday, Andrew Siciliano asked, “Tell the truth, did you ever want to punch Jay Cutler?”
“There have been times, yeah,” Briggs said. “But we’ve had a lot of quarterbacks (who I’ve wanted to punch). Why didn’t I do it? Because out of respect.”
Siciliano ticked off a list of former Bears not-so-greats.
“Craig Krenzel?”
“Wanted to punch him a couple times,” the Bears linebacker said while punching his hand.
“Caleb Hanie?”
“Wanted to punch him four times against the AFC,” said Briggs, who smacked his hand.
Briggs said he didn’t want to punch Brian Griese or Kyle Orton, but smiled when asked about Rex Grossman.
“I wanted to punch Rex Grossman in Miami,” he said. Grossman threw two interceptions — one of which was returned for a touchdown — during the Bears’ Super Bowl loss to the Colts in Miami in 2007.
Briggs even talked about Kordell Stewart.
