Two long years ago, then-Warriors head coach Mark Jackson proclaimed that Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson were “the greatest shooting backcourt in the history of the game.”
After helping the Warriors win an NBA title, Thompson now agrees with his former coach.
Speaking with a reporter in China at an event to promote his new Anta sneaker, Thompson co-signed Jackson’s proclamation and promptly explained why.
“I agree, I think so,” Thompson said. “You know, Steph is one of the best to ever play. I think I’m right there by him. We both led the NBA in 3s, we were No. 1 and 2. I don’t know if that has ever happened on the same team.
“I think we are the best shooting backcourt, maybe of all-time. We still got a lot to prove and I still think we are just scratching the surface of what we can be.”
Curry and Thompson led the NBA in 3-pointers made this season while leading the Warriors to an NBA championship.
