Joel Embiid could be an All Star one day or he may never play a game in the NBA depending on whose opinion you listen to.
76ers general manager Sam Hinkie said Embiid would need another 5-8 months to recover from his latest foot surgery, but Philly.com's Keith Pompey reports that Embiid may not be fully ready to go again until after the start of the 2016-17 season.
Talking to my sources, they want to see him return around October – not this October, but the next October, for that season. And he may not even return for the start of that season. He may miss a couple games. But that’s their goal.
Obviously there are parameters in place for the 76ers to proceed with or without Embiid, but it brings up the constant question again: will Joel Embiid ever play in a regular season game for Philadelphia?
