I believe it’s safe to say that Nick Diaz's professional MMA career is over.
In what seems like an excessive punishment because it’s not steroids or anything like that, Diaz has been suspended five years for failing a marijuana test at UFC 183.
The verdict was passed unanimously at a hearing in Las Vegas.
The suspension is retroactive to Jan. 31.
Diaz was also fined 33% of his $500,000 fight purse.
Diaz, 32, will be 36 years old when allowed to return to competition.
Again, I find the verdict shocking in light of the growing PED use in the sport. I don’t believe marijuana enhanced anything Diaz was doing in the octagon.
