Chip Kelly says he’s happy in the NFL, but doesn’t mean he won’t have his suitors. The candidates for Southern Cal’s head coaching vacancies will have a huge NFL flavor, with more than four current head coaches being mentioned as top candidates.
NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported on NFL Network’s GameDay Morning on Sunday that New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton and Philadelphia Eagles’ Chip Kelly are among those who will be considered for the USC job.
One bonus for Sean Payton: With all the talk of a potential coach “trade” there would be no compensation for #USC. He could just go.

Chip Kelly to get considered for #USC job, too, if they can even lure him. He’ll have some interest, but does he just want to be pursued?

Payton’s daughter attends Pepperdine University, located in Malibu, so moving to USC would bring the coach within closer proximity.
Rapoport reported that Kelly would have some interest in USC, but added “a source close to him points out that Chip Kelly really likes to be liked and wanted, so that may be driving some of his interest.”
