Christine Michael is expected to have an expanded role in the Cowboys gameplan this week, but if you ask him about it he’ll likely know just as much as you do. Michael joke with the Dallas media that he was clueless to exactly what a bigger role means.
“I’m just as clueless as you are,” the running back said Thursday. “Those guys did say I’m going to get a little bit more carries, but we’ll see on Sunday.
“I’m just going to help to do my part. Whatever that bigger part consists of, I’m going to just do what I have to do.”
Michael, acquired in an October trade from the Seahawks, has been used sparingly, if at all. The Cowboys declared during the bye week that Michael would assume a greater role in the ground game.
“We’d like to get him more opportunities in the offense as opposed to limited or one short-yardage play here,” offensive coordinator Scott Linehan said of Michael. “We feel like he’s ready for some more carries.
“C-Mike has done a good job. He’s worked hard since he’s been here. It takes a while to learn a new system, a new way of doing things. I think he’s done a good job of doing that.”
