He made a name for himself coming out of Illinois, and hopefully those horror film checks continue to roll in. Wide receiver Brandon Lloyd on Thursday announced his retirement from the NFL after 11 seasons, ESPN reports.
“I am so thankful for the years I spent in the NFL,” Lloyd said in a statement. “I do not have one regret, and I am blessed to leave the game in such a healthy and happy place. I will do all I can to positively represent the league and its players for the rest of my life.”
He led the NFL in receiving yards in 2010 with the Denver Broncos when he had 1,448 yards and earned the only Pro Bowl honors of his career. The 34-year-old Lloyd, who played last season for the San Francisco 49ers, retires with 399 catches for 5,989 and 36 touchdown receptions.
