This goes under the overly-intense rivalry tag. Earl Dunbar is a huge Pittsburgh Steelers fan, so diehard that he’ll move on you if you dare disrespect his team.
According to WTAE.com, Dunbar got into an argument over the Steelers vs. Browns game with another guy at a neighbor’s house, got mad and went home to get his pistol. You know what happened next.
Pittsburgh police say what started as a fight about the Steelers game between the two men during a gathering inside one home on Zara Street where both were visiting was followed by Dunbar shooting Sawyer at Dunbar’s house next door.
A young man who lives in the house where the argument started told Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 he was surprised to arrive home and see the commotion.
“I was coming from church with my grandma. We threw her a little birthday party yesterday,” said Shaun Martin.
In a criminal complaint, police write that after the initial argument, Dunbar returned to his home next door. Police say when Sawyer came on Dunbar’s porch, Dunbar fired from inside, hitting Sawyer in the shoulder. Sawyer was taken to UPMC Mercy Hospital in stable condition on Sunday. The hospital is not releasing any updates on his condition.
Dunbar is being held in the Allegheny County Jail. His bond is set at $50,000 and he’s charged with aggravated assault. His preliminary hearing is set for Nov. 24.
Dunbar’s team won going away as well 30-9, so you can imagine how serious he is about his Steelers.
