Two unnamed St. Bonaventure mens basketball players are being investigated after a woman claims they assaulted her behind a bar on Sunday, according to the Buffalo News. The woman told police the assault took place just before 1:30 a.m. ET.
She was taken to Olean General Hospital and treated for a head injury, bruises and abrasions, according to a police report. The alleged incident happened just before 1:30 a.m.
The woman has declined to file a formal complaint and the two players have not been arrested or charged, Allegany Police Chief Dominic G. Papasergi said.
Without an official complaint or a signed statement, there is not a lot police can do, Papasergi said.
The News is not naming the players involved because they haven’t been charged with a crime. St. Bonaventure issued a written statement when contacted by The Buffalo News.
“We are aware of police reports of altercations occurring early Sunday morning in Allegany involving St. Bonaventure students, with one female taken to the hospital, where she was treated and released,” said Tom Missel, director of marketing and media relations. “That’s the only official information we have at this point.
As of now, no charges have been filed against either player.
