The Philadelphia Eagles have some of the greatest fans in the NFL today, for this reason alone.
As Jeffrey Clayton Riegel was nearing death from cancer, the loyal Eagles fan’s last wishes was to have eight players serve as his pallbearers. The reason is priceless.
“So the Eagles can let him down one last time,” according to an obituary in the Atlantic City Press.
Riegel, 56, of Port Republic, N.J., was constantly let down by the Birds, but could never switch allegiance.
“I just can’t,” he would say.
Before succumbing to the disease, Riegel watched his Birds one last time, as they beat the Buffalo Bills, 20-16, last Thursday in their second preseason game.
