Kobe Bryant has officially made it.
The man who spent his childhood dreaming of being drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers will have his numbers lifted to the rafters.
Bryant actually was in China when the Lakers made the announcement that they’ll be retiring both his No. 8 and No. 24 jerseys when the team hosts the Golden State Warriors in Los Angeles on Dec. 18.
“As a kid growing up in Italy, I always dreamed of my jersey hanging in the Lakers rafters, but I certainly never imagined two of them,” said Bryant. “The Lakers have bestowed a huge honor on me and I’m grateful for the fans’ enthusiasm around this game.”
Bryant, who was aware of the ceremony, celebrated the announcement as only he could by posting an Instagram photo of himself in the gym on the same day the news broke.
