St. John’s has had a horrible season, as the Red Storm were still looking for their first Big East win of the season. However, things brightened up a bit after Saturday’s 81-77 upset win over No. 4 Duke at Madison Square Garden.
The Red Storm ended their 11-game losing streak as they were led by Shamorie Ponds’ 33 points.
Duke (19-4, 7-3), were led by Gary Trent Jr.’s 22 points, yet committed 18 turnovers as a team. Grayson Allen made just 1-of-7 shots and missed a game-tying 3-point attempt in the final seconds. Marvin Bagley was just as horrible on the defensive end as well.
