The NFL hasn’t released the 2018 schedule yet, but the opening weekend kickoff should be a doozy, as the first game of the season will reportedly have the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles hosting the Minnesota Vikings.
When #NFL schedule comes out sources tell me #Eagles will play #Vikings to open season Thursday night September 6th in Philadelphia. It’s rematch of NFC Championship game. @SportsRadioWIP— Howard Eskin (@howardeskin) March 19, 2018
The Super Bowl champion annually hosts the first game of the season on a Thursday night, with the league usually trying to get a rematch or huge game to open.
The NFL couldn’t go wrong with the opening game, as the Eagles also play the Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers, Houston Texans, and Indianapolis Colts at home next season.
With the NFL attempting to avoid ratings disasters, the game would be a rematch of the NFC Championship Game and will feature Kirk Cousins in his debut with the Vikings.
