Jerick McKinnon’s hard work has finally paid off with a big dividend. The San Francisco 49ers will sign the former Minnesota Vikings running back to a four-year, $30 million deal, a source told ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
One of the most surprising deals of free agency will be Jerrick McKinnon's with the 49ers: It is expected to be a four-year deal worth $30 million -- an average of $7.5 million per year, per source.— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) March 14, 2018
The move comes after former 49ers running back Carlos Hyde agreed to a three-year deal with the Cleveland Browns.
McKinnon, the 49ers’ top running back target, gained 1,918 rushing yards, 984 receiving yards, and 12 total touchdowns in four seasons with the Vikings.
Last year, McKinnon was ranked as the No. 8 running back by Pro Football Focus, ahead of LeSean McCoy, Christian McCaffrey, and Melvin Gordon.
