If you can’t beat them, then join them. For DeAndre Jordan, that means heading home to Texas. The Los Angeles Clippers star is looking to pull a power move, and become a member of the Houston Rockets, per USA Today’s Kelly Iko.
Jordan even went as far as telling multiple Rockets players during the regular season that he wanted out of Los Angeles and a shot with Houston.
The source also detailed the events surrounding the infamous Clippers-Rockets postgame locker room altercation earlier in January. According to the source, after the altercation, Jordan spoke to multiple Rockets players on the team bus, citing frustration with the Clippers organization and a strong desire to leave. Blake Griffin, then a member of the Clippers and a teammate of Jordan, was traded to the Detroit Pistons less than two weeks later. The 29-year-old Jordan can stay with the Clippers should he elect to opt in to his $24.1-million player option for next season.
If Houston is the destination for Jordan, then some are left wondering what happens to Clint Capela? Capela is roughly five years younger than Jordan, and Rockets ownerniship has made it clear that the team will match any offer sheet that comes his way for the 23-year-old big.
In 77 games this past season, Jordan averaged 12 points, and ranked second overall in both rebounds per game (15.2) and field-goal percentage (64.5).
