Markelle Fultz’s personal skills trainer Drew Hanlen has confirmed the obvious about the Philadelphia 76ers' 2017 No. 1 overall pick and why he struggled last season.

Hanlen, the star shooting and skills trainer that has worked with everyone from Joel Embiid and Jayson Tatum, has now been put in charge of fixing Fultz’s broken jumper.
“With Markelle, he had one of the most documented cases of kind of the yips in basketball over recent years, where he completely forgot how to shoot and had multiple hitches in his shot,” Hanlen explained on the Talking Schmidt Podcast.

“We’re way ahead of the pace of where I thought we would be. I thought it would take me at least six weeks before we had a serviceable jump shot and we already started to shoot with a jump in week two. It’s not perfect yet, but by the end of the summer, he’ll be back whole, and he’ll show people why he was the No. 1 pick."
Fultz, the consensus top pick with the hesi-pullup, can get to the rim with the best of them.

But he also shot 41.3 percent on five 3-point attempts per game as a freshman at Washington. After adjusting his jump shot last summer, Fultz lost confidence in his shot, all but forcing him out of the Sixers lineup.

Hanlen the best shooting trainer in the NBA, says Fultz is already ahead of schedule.
