It was announced that former San Francisco 49ers tight end Dwight Clark died from ALS on Monday at the age of 61.
Clark was most known for "The Catch" in 1982, where he caught the game-winning touchdown pass from Joe Montana in the NFC title game against the Dallas Cowboys.
Here's how the NFL reacted to and mourned the legend's death on Twitter.
Love you bro Dwight Clark!! RIP— jerryrice (@JerryRice) June 4, 2018
Dwight Clark may have been the most humble star the NFL has ever produced. Yes he was fun and funny, but Dwight had an innate goodness to him that will never be forgotten by those who had the good fortune to know him. May God bless Dwight and his family.— Cris Collinsworth (@CollinsworthPFF) June 5, 2018

@49ers ex-owner Eddie D on Dwight Clark's death: ""My heart is broken. Today, I lost my little brother and one of my best friends. ... I love him and will miss him terribly. Our hearts and prayers are with his wife Kelly, his children and the entire Clark family." @sfchronicle— Mike Lerseth (@MikeLerseth) June 4, 2018
The Catch is arguably the greatest play in Bay Area sports history. But Dwight Clark’s legacy is soo much more than that. It’s good naturedness. It’s his smile. It’s the way he brought the 49ers brotherhood together by publicly fighting ALS. RIP 87. Gone but never forgotten pic.twitter.com/0NIufU0fwe— Kevin Jones (@Mr_KevinJones) June 4, 2018

So sorry to her about the passing of Dwight Clark. Great person and player. When he watched Jerry Rice for the first time he walked through the halls at 711 Nevada St saying “he is so smooth and soon to be rich.”— Michael Lombardi (@mlombardiNFL) June 4, 2018

Not sure how old I was (had to be 6-8), but a retired Dwight Clark took part in it.
Even more than Steve Young, he was a true gem to us children. Lasting memory from my childhood
RIP

Dwight Clark was such a good man. Got to know him very well after his career. I was in press box for “The Catch,” in 1981 NFC Championship game vs Cowboys, which is still best game I’ve ever seen. He and Everson Walls became close friends like Ralph Branca and Bobby Thomson.— Gary Myers (@GaryMyersNY) June 4, 2018
Rest In Peace my friend pic.twitter.com/Sx6dfo3bI1— Michael Silver (@MikeSilver) June 4, 2018
I’m heartbroken to tell you that today I lost my best friend and husband. He passed peacefully surrounded by many of the people he loved most. I am thankful for all of Dwight’s friends, teammates and 49ers fans who have sent their love during his battle with ALS. Kelly Clark.— Dwight Clark (@DwightC87) June 4, 2018
Dwight Clark was an NFL legend long before he was named de facto GM of the expansion Browns in 1999. He was always an optimistic person. R.I.P. Thoughts & prayers to his family.— Tony Grossi (@TonyGrossi) June 4, 2018
