The Detroit Pistons are adding quality to their revamped front office, as The Undefeated is reporting that the Detroit Pistons have offered their assistant general manager job to Atlanta Hawks executive Malik Rose.
Former NBA forward Malik Rose is expected to be hired as the @DetroitPistons assistant general manager tomorrow, a source told @TheUndefeated. The two-time champion has been the @ATLHawks basketball operations manager since 2015.— Marc J. Spears (@MarcJSpearsESPN) June 27, 2018
Rose, the Hawks manager of basketball operations, has risen quickly through the front office ranks. In 2017, he was given a promotion to general manager of the NBA Gatorade League’s Erie Bayhawks, while continuing to serve in his role as Atlanta’s manager of basketball operations.
The former Drexel star played on for teams from 1996-2009.
“It’s something I had on my radar,” Rose told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution in April 2017. “My end goal is to be a GM in the NBA one day. A lot of NBA GMs got their start being the GM of a D-League team. It was something that was always on my wish list. Something I always hoped would happen.”Rose was named G-League executive of the year this season.
