When my male friends ask me why they are striking out with women, I try to explain to them that ladies want to be with a strong man.
The moment they hear the word "strong," they rush to the gym, working on their biceps and triceps, sweating like pigs, and I am sitting there with one thought in my mind: that is not why I meant.
Unfortunately, most guys misinterpret the concept "strong man" and they do their best to look like The Rock.
However, even if you look like a movie star (and I don’t mean John Goodman) no woman will want to be around you (okay, maybe for just a couple of days you gorgeous piece of arm candy) if you are completely mentally weak.
Don’t get me wrong, we love a guy who can protect us from physical dangers and make us feel safe, but if you puss out when you are faced with a tough situation, you have the motivation of a sloth, you are not able to keep your cool when someone confronts you, and you cannot quit smoking because your will-power is nonexistent, then we know you are not a keeper.
I’ll be honest, smoking does give you that sexy James Dean vibe, but we surely don’t want to feel like we are licking an ashtray when we kiss you!
In order to easily overcome the difficulties in life, boost your willpower, conquer self-doubt, stay motivated and easily bounce back from failure you need to build your inner strength.
Only when you are both physically as well as mentally powerful, you will become a real chick-magnet and become simply irresistible. So, how do you do that? How do you become a better man in every way?
It is actually not as complicated as it sounds. Follow these tips and you will achieve inner strength.
Go On Solo Trips
I know that this doesn’t sound like a lot of fun, but hear me out. Going on a trip doesn’t always have to be about partying with your buddies, hooking up with girls from other cities and having those unforgettable nights you will never remember (you know what I mean!).
In fact, being on the road on your own you will force you to make decisions, overcome fears, discover your true self and how much you are capable of. Traveling solo will challenge you to learn how to rely on yourself at difficult times.
Sorry, your Mommy won’t be there to clean your clothes, feed you or give you an allowance. You will be forced to trust your own heart, take decisions and make your own choices.
This way you will learn you are responsible for creating the reality around you, and this will help you later in life when it comes to taking an important step.
Going on a trip alone will make you a stronger person, help you grow as a human being and make you realize that you can achieve anything you set your mind to only if you keep going. You will go as a boy, but you will return as a man.
Meditate
No, meditation is not just for women and Dalai Lama! In fact, in order to become more decisive, you need to restore focus and clarity, and meditation will help you do that.
Don’t worry, you don’t have to light up scented candles and darken the room, you can meditate wherever and whenever you want. Just 10 minutes of meditation a day helps you de-clutter your mind and removes the mental junk that depletes your energy.
It will help you be one step ahead of others and become a force to be reckoned with. Now, that doesn’t sound too bad, right?
Create a Daily Fitness Routine
Yes, working on your outer strength can help you build your inner strength. Isn’t that amazing? By working on your six-pack, you will also build confidence and achieve better performance in all aspects of life.
We all know that regular exercise routines improve physical strength and on various sports sites you can find good tips to build endurance, develop a strong core or build muscle fats.
However, by committing oneself to working out regularly, you will boost your confidence and easily attain career goals.
Cardio and strength training will provide you with the focus and drive you need to be successful in all facets of life, while core strength exercises will help clear your mind and aid concentration. This way you will become more focused and productive.
On the other hand, yoga and pilates provide mental clarity, alleviate stress and enhance overall well-being. Regular exercise promotes positivity and creativity and provides mood-boosting endorphins, too.
When stress and fatigue strip away your energy that is essential to prosper, a good workout can save the day. They don’t say that strong bodies are happy and successful for nothing.
Practice Self-Control in Difficult Situations
It is always easier to get in a fight and start knocking people over with beer bottles, eat the whole content of your fridge or light up a cigarette when you’ve decided to quit. In order to achieve your goal, focus on one thing at a time.
Maintaining self-control is more successful when people have only one goal. In order to achieve that goal, try to avoid temptation at first. Anticipate situations where unwanted desires might emerge and taking proactive steps to ensure that you won’t succumb to the problematic desire.
For example, if you want to stop smoking, throw out all your cigarettes and don’t allow your friends to smoke in your home.
Learn to Relax
In order to build your inner strength, you have to stop draining yourself. Finances, family and work can easily drain your energy so you need to find a way to recharge the batteries.
Therefore, find something that helps you relax, whether it is running, reading, or playing games. Every day choose your battles wisely and take the time to recharge.
This way you will be able to build your inner strength and be in a much better position to handle whatever comes your way.
Surround Yourself With Positive & Productive People
Spending time with negative people who always see the glass half-empty and complain all the time can be exhausting and drain your personal energy reserves.
Therefore, being around individuals who care for themselves and others, and are productive and accomplished is a terrific way to gain and maintain energy. When trying to build inner strength, don’t let negative people burden you.
Learn How to Forgive Yourself
If you want to become a better man in the future, you need to reflect on the past and forgive yourself for all those mistakes you made. Accepting yourself with all your virtues and flaws will help you become much stronger and your inner strength will blossom.
Build Confidence
Most guys think that all you need in order to feel confident is a killer body. I’m sorry I have to burst your bubble, but looking like a model won’t necessarily help boost your confidence. In fact, there are so many people who look amazing and yet still have really low self-esteem.
Only by improving your competence and your self-image, you can increase that self-confidence without anyone’s help. First thing you need to do is kill negative thoughts and become aware of your self-talk. Every time a negative thought comes to your mind replace it with a positive one.
For example, while running, instead of thinking you can’t reach the finish line and you don’t have the strength to carry on, give yourself a pep talk and say something like, "I can do this, there is only just one mile left."
This way you will start achieving your goals and that, my friend, will help you feel confident. In addition, be kind and generous.
Not only will you become a better person (and become more attractive to ladies), you will start to feel good about yourself, you will believe that you are a good person and it will do wonders for your self-confidence.
Another thing I found helpful when it comes to boosting confidence is preparation. If you are well prepared you are more confident in your abilities, right? Therefore, whether you have an exam, a job interview or an important meeting, prepare yourself as much as possible.
In addition, achieving small goals by being prepared will help you boost your confidence even more. Once you put things in motion you will see how easy it is to become a strong, confident guy.
However, in order to achieve these goals keep in mind you shouldn’t shoot for the moon, at least not yet. Setting an unreasonable goal will only lead to failure, and when you fail you get discouraged. Instead, shoot for something much more achievable.
The more you achieve small goals, the better you’ll be at it, and you will gradually boost your confidence and move to achieving bigger goals.
Create Outer Strength
In order to develop your inner strength you need to have a strong foundation. You will create it by taking care of your physical needs so get some kind of physical exercise, make a conscious effort to eat healthy food and get an adequate amount of sleep each night.
I know it sounds kind of lame, but when your body is strong, it will be a lot easier to build your inner strength.
Don’t Make Excuses
If you want to build inner strength you have to learn how to take responsibility for your actions. When you make a mistake, be a man, admit it, and move on.
Mentally strong people do not make excuses for themselves, so follow their example and own your mistakes in order to cultivate a core of inner strength.
So you see, building your inner strength is not a boogeyman, but something you can easily do with several simple strategies.
However, don’t wait for a crisis to start building it, do it now! Take control of your thoughts, actions, and emotions and you will become a better man women will love and others will admire.
