The 2021-22 Los Angeles Lakers find themselves in a predicament similar to the one of almost 10 years ago when the Kobe Bryant-led Lakers had new reinforcements with Dwight Howard and Steve Nash joining the squad alongside Pau Gasol.
This year's Lakers features the championship duo of LeBron James and Anthony Davis, with the addition of Russell Westbrook to form their Big Three. Complimentary pieces include Howard and Carmelo Anthony.
The Lakers find themselves with a losing record at the NBA All-Star break and the 9th seed in the Western Conference, good enough for a bid in the Play-In Tournament. The 2013 Lakers were in a similar situation being 25-29 at the break.
